programmers, writers, academics and all citizens, OpenCity needs your
help.

This is an era of corporate dominance of how we communicate, express our
ideas politics and creative works. Copyright was originally supposed to
fertilize creativity now this fertilizer is choking that which it was
supposed to encourage.

OpenCity is part of a growing movement for citizens to have direct say
over our culture and the liberate the tools of communication. It is
being forged silently yet powerfully. The captains of cultural industry
are becoming more irrelevant than ever before. Creative commons and Free
Software is the thin edge of the wedge towards true creative outlets
that let everyone participate. The lines of audience/artist and computer
user/programmer is blurring in an exciting new paradigm.

Volunteers, artists, concerned citizens, programmers and everyone from
all walks of life can make this 3rd Annual Event better than ever. Be
